3. Find the right boxes
Instead of choosing cardboard or paper boxes, the best choice to pack the summer clothes that will remain unused for use are the plastic boxes. The plastic is water resistant and protects against insect penetration. Cartons or wooden boxes contain chemicals that can be transferred to clothing and damage them. Also, the adhesive that binds cardboard parts is a material that attracts many insects. Make sure the plastic boxes have small holes for the air circulation, because some materials need air conditioning all the time.
4. Save the cool temperature
Place the boxes in a cool, damp place, so that they do not have contact with the ground or with the light of the sun.
5. Stay away from wooden materials
Avoid direct contact of the fabric with wood materials because the wood contains acids, which after a long period of time damage textile fibers.
6. Pay special attention to special pieces
Some clothes that are kept for special occasions should be placed in specific paper wrappers containing no acid content in order to prevent wrinkles and damage to the fabric.
7. Think in the long run
For garments that remain closed for a long time, such as bridal gowns, the best option are some specific boxes / wrap that do not contain acid elements. We advise you to take these types of clothing outdoors at least once a year, for ventilation, then fold them down and pack them again. In this way, prevent serious damage to the garments that may have been unloaded for a long time.
